Subspecies
The following 3 subspecies are recognised:
rubinoides (Bourcier & Mulsant, 1846) - Central and eastern Andes of Colombia.
aequatorialis (Gould, 1860) - Western slope of Andes in Colombia and Ecuador.
cervinigularis (Salvin, 1892) - Eastern slope of Andes in Ecuador and Peru.
