Habitat
Open mountain woodland in Andean yungas forest dominated by pure stands of Alnus acuminata or Podocarpus parlatorei. From 1,600 - 2,600 m.

Range (Guide)

Argentina, Bolivia.

Southern Bolivia (no records since 1938) and north-western Argentina.

Population
Estimated population is unknown (2010) and decreasing.

Status VU
Habitat destruction and degradation due to slash-and-burn agriculture and wildfires, illegal trapping for the cage-bird trad, are the main threats.
