Habitat
Subtropical and tropical lowland moist forest. From sea-level - 800 m.

Range (Guide)

Brazil, French Guiana, Guyana, Suriname, Venezuela.

Eastern Venezuela (Delta Amacuro south to eastern Amazonas) east through the Guianas, and south to northern Brazil (south to Amazon, west to eastern Roraima and R Negro).

Estimated population is unknown (2010).

Subspecies
May form a superspecies with Lettered Aracari (Pteroglossus inscriptus). Less closely related to Red-necked Aracari (Pteroglossus bitorquatus). Subspecies humboldti of Lettered Aracari (Pteroglossus inscriptus) treated by some authors as belonging within present species, but appears much closer to Lettered Aracari (Pteroglossus inscriptus).

No subspecies.
