Subspecies
Although often expanded to encompass Urocissa, present genus is distinctive in appearance of its members (the green magpies). This species forms a superspecies with Green Magpie (Cissa chinensis) and Short-tailed Magpie (Cissa thalassina), and sometimes treated as conspecific with Short-tailed Magpie (Cissa thalassina). Alternatively, subspecies concolor and jini have sometimes been considered to represent a separate species, and katsumatae has likewise been treated as another full species.
The following 5 subspecies are recognised:
jini Delacour, 1930 - South-central China (southern Sichuan south to southern Guangxi).
