Fragmented in central Africa: eastern DRCongo (highlands west of L Edward, highlands west of L Kivu, Kahuzi swamp), south-western Uganda (Echuya Forest Reserve, Bwindi-Impenetrable Forest), Rwanda (Rugezi swamp, Virunga volcanoes, Nyungwe Forest) and northern Burundi.
 
Population
Estimated population is 20,000 - 49,999 (2010) and decreasing.
Status EN
Habitat destruction and degradation through encroached by agriculture, drainage of swamps, are the main threats.

Food
Small beetles, caterpillars, spiders and small seeds.
Voice
A fast trill, preceded (and sometimes followed) by a few loud 'chup' notes.
Similar Species
White-winged Scrub-Warbler (Bradypterus carpalis) which has white in wings and pale underparts. African Bush-Warbler (Bradypterus baboecala) which is smaller and paler. However, these species rarely, if ever, share the same marshes.
