Subspecies
The following 2 subspecies are recognised:

personatus (R�ppell, 1842) - Ethiopian Rift Valley from Dire Dawa and Ankober south to L Abaya and Yavello.
leopoldi (Shelley, 1881) - Southern Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, south-western Kenya and Tanzania south to northern Malawi, north-eastern Zambia and south-eastern Zaire. Considered by some authors to be a distinct species, Black-faced Go-away-bird (Corythaixoides leopoldi).
