Habitat
Primary hill forest. From sea-level - 1,300 m.
Papua New Guinea (B) (NB).
Population
Estimated population is 2,500 - 9,999 (2010) and decreasing.
Status VU
Habitat destruction through logging and conversion to agriculture, hunting are the main threats.

Food
Poorly known but probably arthropods, lizards, birds, birds' eggs.
Voice
A piped series of about 12 accelerating, upslurred notes.
Subspecies
Forms a superspecies with Long-tailed Honey-buzzard (Henicopernis longicauda). Considered by some authors to be a subspecies of Long-tailed Honey-buzzard (Henicopernis longicauda).
No subspecies.
Similar Species
Pacific Baza (Aviceda subcristata) which is smaller and much paler.
