Food
Mainly tree snails and slugs in the understorey.
Subspecies
Chondrohierax uncinatus (Sibley and Monroe 1990, 1993) has been split into Hook-billed Kite (Chondrohierax uncinatus) and Cuban Kite (Chondrohierax wilsonii) following Stotz et al. (1996).
Considered by some authors to be a subspecies of Hook-billed Kite (Chondrohierax uncinatus).
No subspecies.
Similar Species
Broad-winged Hawk (Buteo platypterus) which has a shorter tail and unbarred underwings.
