Habitat
Evergreen and mixed Araucaria forests with dense undergrowth (often in bamboo areas, despite not directly depending on this microhabitat), forest edge and gallery woodland. From sea-level - 1,100 m.
South-eastern Brazil (Paraná south to Rio Grande do Sul), marginally north-eastern Argentina (eastern Corrientes), and Uruguay (except western and south-west).
 
Population
Estimated population is unknown (2010) and decreasing.
Status NT
Habitat destruction and degradation through conversion to agriculture and deforestation for mining and plantations, is the main threat.
