Subspecies
The following 3 subspecies are recognised:
berlepschi Hellmayr, 1903 - North-eastern Colombia, eastern Ecuador and north-western Brazil east through Venezuela to Guyana and Surinam.
nudifrons (von Spix, 1825) - Central, eastern and southern Brazil, south of Amazon.
infuscatus (Lichtenstein, 1823) - Eastern Bolivia through Paraguay to north-eastern Argentina and Uruguay.
