East of Andes from Colombia and north-eastern Ecuador (perhaps only migrants), southern Venezuela and the Guianas south through Brazil (except north-east), eastern Peru, Bolivia and Paraguay to northern Argentina (Misiones); not recorded between R Negro and R Madeira in western Amazonia.
