Subspecies
May form a superspecies with Lesser Blue-eared Starling (Lamprotornis chloropterus ).
The following 2 subspecies are recognised:
acuticaudus (Barboza du Bocage, 1870) - Central Angola (south to south-central Huíla), southern DRCongo, western and northern Zambia and south-western Tanzania.
ecki Clancey, 1980 - Southern Angola, north-eastern Namibia and extreme north-western Botswana.
