Habitat
Marine. Rocky shores and islets, headlands and cliffs.
New Zealand (B), Southwest Pacific (B) (NB).
Restricted to Chatham Is, to Seast of New Zealand.
 
Population
Estimated population is 1,100 (2010) and decreasing.
Status EN
Fishing activities, including being shot and caught in craypots, predation by introduced mammals, are the main threats.

Primarily small fish, supplemented by marine invertebrates.
Voice
Female silent. Displaying male noisy.
