Registration

Help 
Access to the system is free. Non-members may view data but cannot change, or add to, any of the information presented.

Membership (also free) grants you certain abilities that are not available to non-members. These abilities are outlined in the sections below. Membership falls under one of the types listed below.

Please read carefully and decide if you would like to become a Member or apply to become a Developer or Administrator.

Members

Members are the first level of membership. You may register yourself. When you register you will be sent an email with an attachment outlining your rights and responsibilities. Should you abuse these rules we may lock you out of the system and prevent further access to your account.

As a member you will be granted certain privileges. These include:

  • Add notices of Events
  • Add notices of Field Trips
  • Add useful Links
  • Add News items
  • Add to the list of Reserves and Birding Sites
  • Maintain the Master Species list for your Reserve and Birding Site entries
  • Add your own Species Check List for a Reserve
  • Create personal species lists - Life List, Year List, Holiday List, etc
  • Contribute Articles of Special Interest
  • Contribute Articles about Particular Species
  • Contribute Articles about a Reserve or Birding Site
  • Post notices of Sightings - both Specific Species and General
  • Be notified of Events and Field Trips
  • Be notified when a Species is Sighted
  • Upload Image, Sound and Movie files to the Gallery

If you would like to become a member please Register. Your registration gives you access to ALL countries so you may register within any country.

Registered Members can Login. Please remember that passwords are case sensitive.

If your have forgotten your User Name and / or password you can Retrieve it.

Developers

Developers are the second level of membership. Developers are the main entities responsible for the information that appears on this site. To become a developer you must make a request, explaining why you wish to become a developer, and give an account of your background that may be beneficial to your duties as a developer. If you are granted the right to become a Developer you will be registered and sent an email with an attachment outlining your rights and responsibilities. Should you abuse these rules we may lock you out of the system and prevent further access to your account.

As a developer you will be granted certain privileges. These include all that available to Members plus:

  • Add to the Glossary
  • Communicate with users of other types, including the System Administrator
  • Create Welcome Page Links and Information Snippets
  • Modify all of the data relating to species and searching

Administrators

Administrators are the top level of membership. Administrators are responsible for maintaining the content that appears on this site and solving any user related issues. To become an Administrator you must make a request, explaining why you wish to become an administrator, and give an account of your background that may be beneficial to your duties as an administrator. If you are granted the right to become an Administrator you will be registered and sent an email with an attachment outlining your rights and responsibilities. Should you abuse these rules we may lock you out of the system and prevent further access to your account.

As an administrator you will be granted full rights and privileges. These include all that available to Developers plus:

  • Modify the personal information (except password) of users of other types
  • Add and Delete users of other types (except Administrators)
  • Communicate with users of other types, including the System Administrator
