Aruba, Brazil, Colombia, French Guiana, Guyana, Netherlands Antilles, Peru, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago, Venezuela.

Vagrant to Barbados.

Subspecies
Genus often subsumed in Agelaius. Behavioural and molecular data indicate that this species is closely related to Chestnut-capped Blackbird (Chrysomus ruficapillus).

The following 2 subspecies are recognised:

icterocephalus (Linnaeus, 1766) - Northern Colombia (south to northern Tolima, Meta and Vichada), Venezuela (mostly north of R Orinoco), Trinidad, the Guianas, northern Brazil (Roraima; both banks of R Amazon east to Amap� and north-western Maranh�o) and north-eastern Peru (Loreto).
bogotensis (Chapman, 1914) - North-central Colombia (highlands around Bogot�).
