Habitat
Temperate desert. From sea-level - 4,200 m.

Range (Guide)

Afghanistan, Armenia (B), Azerbaijan, China (mainland), India, Iran [Islamic Republic of], Kazakhstan (B), Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Nepal, Russia (Asian), Russia (Central Asian), Russia (European) (B), Tajikistan, Turkey, Uzbekistan.

Vagrant to Bahrain (NB).

Eastern Turkey, southern Caucasus, Azerbaijan (Nakhichevan) and northern and eastern Iran east to southern and eastern Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Mongolia, south to central Afghanistan, northern Pakistan (Chitral, Baltistan and Gilgit), Ladakh, and west, central and north-eastern China (south to northern and western Xinjiang, northern Qinghai, Gansu and western Inner Mongolia). Winters also western Pakistan (Baluchistan).
