Nest
Bulky, oval, with a side-entrance, composed of dried grasses and tendrils, interwoven and lined with finer grasses, in a low bush, a tuft of tall grass or among a clump of weeds.
Eggs (Guide)
4 - 8; pure white; oval; about 17 x 13 mm. Incubation: about 12 - 13 days; by both sexes.
Young
Altricial, nidicolous. Fledge in about 21 days.

Similar Species
Immature with immature Star Finch (Neochmia ruficauda) which has a somewhat more slender bill and lighter under belly and Blue-faced Parrot-Finch (Erythrura trichroa) which has a blue face, dark bill and generally an overall green color, with a red tail.
