Subtropical and tropical dry shrubland.

Range (Guide)

China (mainland), Mongolia.

Poorly known. Mountains and semi-deserts of west, central and southern Mongolia (including Gobi-Altai) and north-central China (Helan Mts and Zhongwei region, in Ningxia).

Subspecies
Forms a superspecies with Black-throated Accentor (Prunella atrogularis), the two belonging to a species group that also includes Brown Accentor (Prunella fulvescens), Siberian Accentor (Prunella montanella), Radde's Accentor (Prunella ocularis) and Arabian Accentor (Prunella fagani).

Geographical subspecies tenella (described from Uliastaj, in western Mongolia) and pallida (probably from southern Altai) proposed, but differences attributed to individual variation.

No subspecies.
