Subspecies
Apparently no close affinities within genus. Geographical variation slight. Proposed subspecies muraria (described from north-western Kashmir), fusca (from central Xizang, in south-western China) and beicki (from northern Gansu, in north-central China) show little difference from populations elsewhere in range.
The following 3 subspecies are recognised:
muraria Meinertzhagen, R & Meinertzhagen, A, 1926 - Western Himalayas.
rubeculoides (Moore, 1854) - Himalayas.
fusca Mayr, 1927 - Mts. of eastern Tibet and western China (Xinjiang, Gansu and Shaanxi).
