Subspecies
Alcippe ruficapilla (Sibley and Monroe 1990, 1993) has been split into Spectacled Fulvetta (Fulvetta ruficapilla) and Indochinese Fulvetta (Fulvetta danisi) following Collar (2006).
Until recently treated as conspecific with Spectacled Fulvetta (Fulvetta ruficapilla). Birds of southern China (Yunnan and Guizhou) provisionally placed in subspecies sordidior of Spectacled Fulvetta (Fulvetta ruficapilla) on basis of range, but not yet compared with type of present species.
The following 2 subspecies are recognised:
danisi (Delacour & Greenway, 1941) - North-eastern and east-central Laos.
bidoupensis (Eames, JC, Robson, CR & Cu, 1995) - South-eastern Laos and central Vietnam (central and southern Annam).
