Subspecies
Subspecies griseinucha considerably different from nominate, and may well warrant separation as a full species. Further research is required.

The following 2 subspecies are recognised:

souliei (Oustalet, 1897) - South-central and southern Sichuan and extreme north-western Yunnan, in south-central China.
griseinucha Delacour & Jabouille, 1930 - Southern China (central and south-eastern Yunnan) and northern Vietnam (western Tonkin).
