Subspecies
Subspecies chapini, with different facial pattern, sometimes treated as a distinct species.
The following 3 subspecies are recognised:
chapini Schouteden, 1947 - North-eastern DRCongo (Lendu Plateau). Considered by some authors to be a distinct species, Lendu Crombec (Sylvietta chapini).
chloronota Hartert, 1920 - Highlands of eastern DRCongo (west of L Edward south to south of Baraka, Mt Kabobo), south-western Uganda (Kigezi), western Rwanda, western Burundi, and western Tanzania (Mt Mahare).
leucophrys (Sharpe, 1891) - Western Uganda (Kibale Forest, Ruwenzori), Mt Elgon and highlands of western and central Kenya.
