Bradypterus seebohmi (Sibley and Monroe 1990, 1993) has been split into Benguet Grasshopper-warbler (Locustella seebohmi), Timor Bush-Warbler (Locustella timorensis), Russet Grasshopper-warbler (Locustella mandelli) and Sunda Grasshopper-warbler (Locustella montis) following Dickinson et al. (2000).
Part of a species complex that also includes Taiwan Grasshopper-warbler (Locustella alishanensis), Russet Grasshopper-warbler (Locustella mandelli), Brown Grasshopper-warbler (Locustella luteoventris), Sunda Grasshopper-warbler (Locustella montis) and Timor Bush-Warbler (Locustella timorensis) and some or all are often treated as conspecific. Probably most closely related to Sunda Grasshopper-warbler (Locustella montis).
