Subspecies
No subspecies.
Has been suggested to form a superspecies with Shelley's Greenbul (Arizelocichla masukuensis), and in the past considered conspecific, but differs significantly in plumage and voice. Also, while recent fieldwork and molecular evidence indicate that latter is more closely related to Western Mountain Greenbul (Arizelocichla tephrolaema), phylogenetic studies indicate that present species is sister-taxon to both.
