Subspecies
The following 5 subspecies are recognised:

paraguensis Phelps & Phelps Jr, 1946 - Eastern Venezuela (central Bol��var, extreme southern Monagas and southern Delta Amacuro) and Guyana.
collaris (Pelzeln, 1868) - Southern Venezuela (southern Bol��var) south to eastern Colombia (eastern Vaup�s) and northern Brazil (south to east-central Amazonas and northern Roraima).
torquatus Sclater, PL & Salvin, 1873 - Suriname and French Guiana south to northern Brazil (central Amap�).
perlatus Todd, 1927 - Extreme south-eastern Colombia (southern Amazonas), north-eastern Peru and north-western Brazil (left bank of upper R Solim��es, in western Amazonas).
colombianus Parkes, 1980 - East of Andes, from southern Colombia (western Putumayo, western Caquet�) south to Ecuador (upper Putumayo drainage).
