• cumatilis (Temminck, 1829)   -  Breeds north-eastern China (Manchuria south to Hebei), south-eastern Russia (southern Ussuriland) and northern Korea. Non-breeding Laos and Vietnam, Greater Sundas and Philippines (Luzon, Palawan). Considered by some authors to be a distinct species, Zappey's Flycatcher (Cyanoptila cumatilis).
• cyanomelana (Temminck, 1829)   -  Breeds southern Kuril Is, Japan and southern Korea. Non-breeding Taiwan, south-eastern China (Hainan), Indochina, Philippines (Luzon, Negros, Palawan, Balabac and Bongao) and Borneo.
• intermedia (Weigold, 1922)   -  Breeds in north-eastern China (Heilongjiang south to eastern Hebei), south-eastern Russia (Amurskaya Oblast and Primorskiy Kray), and the Korean peninsula; the species winters south to Myanmar, Thailand, and the Greater Sundas.
