Subspecies
Rufous Flycatcher-Thrush (Stizorhina fraseri) and Finsch's Flycatcher-Thrush (Stizorhina finschii) (Sibley and Monroe 1990, 1993) have been lumped as fraseri and moved from genus Neocossyphus to the genus Stizorhina following Dowsett and Forbes-Watson (1993).
fraseri (Strickland, 1844) - Bioko I (Fernando Póo).
rubicunda (Hartlaub, 1860) - South-eastern Nigeria east to northern DRCongo, south to Angola and north-western Zambia.
vulpina Reichenow, 1902 - South-western South Sudan, north-eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Uganda.
finschii (Sharpe, 1870) - Lowlands of Sierra Leone and Liberia to Ghana and southern Nigeria. Considered by some authors to be a distinct species, Finsch's Flycatcher-Thrush (Stizorhina finschii).
