Habitat
Lowland forested areas, primary forest within 500 m of the edge, secondary forest with a dense low understorey and a dense discontinuous canopy, old, uncleared cocoa and coffee plantations where the tree layers are beginning to disappear. From sea-level - 800 m.

Range (Guide)

Cameroon (B) (NB), Central African Republic (B) (NB), Equatorial Guinea (B) (NB), Gabon (B) (NB).

Patchily distributed in southern Cameroon, Equatorial Guinea and Gabon, and extreme south-western Central African Republic.

Currently this species is not classified as a rarity in this country OR information has not been updated.

Population
Estimated population is unknown (2010).

Status LC
Habitat destruction through clearing and conversion to agriculture is the main threat.

Subspecies
May form a superspecies with Ituri Batis (Batis ituriensis), with which sometimes treated as conspecific.
