Jameson's Antpecker (Parmoptila jamesoni) [XC739882]
by Peter Boesman from Buhoma, Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, Uganda (call)
Subspecies
Parmoptila rubrifrons (Sibley and Monroe 1990, 1993) has been split into Red-fronted Antpecker (Parmoptila rubrifrons) and Jameson's Antpecker (Parmoptila jamesoni) following Woodcock (2003).
Thought to form a superspecies with Woodhouse's Antpecker (Parmoptila woodhousei) and Red-fronted Antpecker (Parmoptila rubrifrons), and sometimes treated as conspecific with latter or, less often, with both. Northern part of range closely approaches that of Woodhouse's Antpecker (Parmoptila woodhousei), but the two not known to be locally sympatric.
