Subspecies
Cebu subspecies, altera, is extinct.
The following 3 subspecies are recognised:
- coerulescens (Blyth, 1842) - Northern Philippines (Luzon, Catanduanes).
- deschauenseei (duPont, 1972) - Marinduque, in north-central Philippines.
- alterum ! Wardlaw-Ramsay, RG, 1881 - Formerly Cebu (central Philippines). Extinct.
