Status EX
Was an abundant species until about 1918 when a shipwreck allowed the island to be colonized by rats. It was extinct some time before 1936.

Nest
Domed, with a side entrance near the top, with a short tail and a projecting hood entrance, composed of dry soft bark, fiber, leaves, grass, moss and cobweb, lined with feathers, suspended from a twig
Eggs (Guide)
3; almost without gloss, white, faintly tinged with pale pink and liberally freckled with reddish brown, mostly at the large end; pointed oval; 18 x 14 mm.
Young
Probably altricial, nidicolous.

No subspecies.
Similar Species
Grey Gerygone (Gerygone igata) which has a shorter and thicker bill.
