South-eastern Brazil from south-eastern Minas Gerais and western Espírito Santo south to Paraná, and adjacent north-eastern Argentina (Misiones); probably also south-eastern Paraguay.

Habitat destruction and degradation through agricultural conversion and deforestation for mining and plantation production, urbanisation, industrialisation, agricultural expansion, colonisation and associated road-building are the main threats.
