Habitat
Undergrowth of epiphyte-clad montane evergreen forest, elfin forest and adjacent secondary woodland, on relatively steep slopes. From 2,900 - 3,400 m.
Central Andes of southern Colombia (eastern Cauca) and eastern Ecuador (south to R Zamora).

Estimated population is unknown (2010) and decreasing.
Status NT
Habitat destruction and degradation through deforestation for agricultural expansion, timber cutting and burning for pasture, are the main threats.
