Subspecies
The following 4 subspecies are recognised:
- duidae Chapman, 1929 - Southern Venezuela in Amazonas (cerros of Yaví, Duida and Neblina).
- guaiquinimae Zimmer, JT & Phelps, 1946 - South-eastern Venezuela in central and south-eastern Bolívar (Cerro Guaiquinima and Cerro Paurai-tepui).
- simplex (Salvin & Godman, 1884) - Gran Sabana and Mt Roraima, in south-eastern Venezuela (south-eastern Bolívar) and adjacent Guyana.
- pacaraimae Phelps Jr & Dickerman, 1980 - Pacaraima Mts in southern Bolívar and immediately adjacent northern Brazil.
