Subspecies
Specimens from interior Andes of Junín and Lima (Peru), with pinkish wash below, may represent an undescribed subspecies.
The following 3 subspecies are recognised:
- cajamarcae Zimmer, JT, 1936 - Andes of north-western Peru (southern Cajamarca).
- humilis (Cabanis, 1873) - Andes of central Peru (La Libertad and Ancash south to Huancavelica and Ayacucho).
- robusta (von Berlepsch, 1901) - Andes of southern Peru (Cuzco south to Puno) and northern Bolivia (La Paz, western Cochabamba).
