Habitat
Boggy terrain, especially mineral-rich, well-watered cushion-plant (e.g. Distichia) bogs with rocky outcrops and stony slopes nearby, often below glaciers. From 4,430 - c.5,000 m.
High Andes of central Peru (Junín, Lima, Huancavelica).

Population
Estimated population is 50 - 249 (2010) and decreasing.
Status CR
Habitat destruction and degradation through overgrazing by alpacas, llamas and sheep, dumping of mining deposits in bogs and lakes, draining of some bogs, water extraction for agriculture, are the main threats.
