Habitat
Subtropical and tropical moist lowland forest. From sea-level - 1,000 m.

Range (Guide)

Brazil.

South-eastern Brazil in central and eastern S�o Paulo, central and eastern Paran�, eastern Santa Catarina and north-eastern Rio Grande do Sul.

Subspecies
Genus appears not to represent a monophyletic grouping, but traditional arrangement maintained herein pending further phylogenetic study. Close relationship with Ferruginous-backed Antbird (Myrmoderus ferrugineus), Scalloped Antbird (Myrmoderus ruficauda) and White-bibbed Antbird (Myrmoderus loricatus) suggested by similarities in plumage, vocalizations and nest architecture. Forms a superspecies with White-bibbed Antbird (Myrmoderus loricatus), and the two have been considered conspecific by some authors.
