Habitat
Subtropical and tropical moist montane forest, high altitude shrubland. From 2,200 - 3,500 m.

Range (Guide)

Bolivia, Peru.

Eastern slope of Andes from northern Peru (southern and east of R Mara��n) south to north-western Bolivia.

Voice
Song is a chip, followed by a shrill, short trill, 'tsip... tsip-teeerrr'. Call is sharp 'tsip' or 'tip' notes.

Subspecies
No subspecies.

Thought to be most closely related to Orange-banded Flycatcher (Nephelomyias lintoni), both of which perhaps do not belong in this genus. Apparently replaced by latter north of R Mara��n, in Peru.
