Habitat
Primary hill to lower montane forest. From 300 - 1,200 m.

Range (Guide)

Indonesia (B), Malaysia (B).

Northern and central Borneo, patchily from Mt Kinabalu south to the Muller Range and Kayan Mentarang.

Population
Estimated population is unknown (2010) and decreasing.

Status NT
Habitat loss through logging is the main threat.

Habits
Singly or in pairs. Small groups at feeding trees.

Food
Fruits, including figs and berries, and some insects.

Voice
A low-pitched, soft, dove-like 'coo-wooo', the last note upslurred.

A ball of dead leaves, mosses and lichens with a long tail, slung from a low branch.

Subspecies
No subspecies.

Similar Species
Green Broadbill (Calyptomena viridis) which is smaller, lacks blue on the underparts and has bars rather than spots on the wings, Whitehead's Broadbill (Calyptomena whiteheadi) which is much larger with a black patch on the upper breast.
