Nest
Bulky, with a side entrance, composed of grasses and twigs, suspended from a branch about 5 - 18 m above the ground, usually located near a bee's nest.
Subspecies
Birds from Banyak Is (off north-western Sumatra) described as subspecies mecistus and those from western Borneo (Saribas District of Sarawak) as subspecies kalamantan. However, there is considerable individual variation among all populations, which makes recognition of any geographical subspecies hardly tenable.
