Subspecies

  • ruficollis Swainson, 1837   -  Senegambia east to Ethiopia and southern Somalia, then south to Zambia, Malawi and northern Mozambique. Considered by some authors to be a distinct species, Red-necked Falcon (Falco ruficollis).
  • horsbrughi Gunning & Roberts, 1911   -  South of R Zambezi, from Zimbabwe and southern Mozambique west to Botswana, Namibia and southern Angola, and south to northern South Africa.
