Subspecies
Accipiter hiogaster, split by Christidis and Boles (2008), is treated here as a subspecies of Brown Goshawk (Accipiter fasciatus) following Sibley and Monroe (1990, 1993).
Considered by some authors to be a subspecies of Grey Goshawk (Accipiter novaehollandiae).

sylvestris Wallace, 1864 - Lesser Sundas. Considered by some authors to be a distinct species, Lesser Sundas Goshawk (Accipiter sylvestris).
polionotus (Salvadori, 1889) - Banda I (Moluccas), Tanimbar Is. Considered by some authors to be a subspecies of Grey Goshawk (Accipiter novaehollandiae).
mortyi Hartert, 1925 - Morotai (northern Moluccas). Considered by some authors to be a subspecies of Grey Goshawk (Accipiter novaehollandiae).
griseogularis (Gray, GR, 1861) - Northern Moluccas. Considered by some authors to be a subspecies of Grey Goshawk (Accipiter novaehollandiae).
obiensis (Hartert, 1903) - Obi (central Moluccas). Considered by some authors to be a subspecies of Grey Goshawk (Accipiter novaehollandiae).
hiogaster S. Müller, 1841 - Moluccas to New Guinea and Solomon Is. Considered by some authors to be a subspecies of Grey Goshawk (Accipiter novaehollandiae).
pallidiceps (Salvadori, 1879) - Buru (southern Moluccas). Considered by some authors to be a subspecies of Grey Goshawk (Accipiter novaehollandiae).
