Habitat
Breeds on rocky coasts. In non-breeding season, ice-free waters off rocky coasts, headlands. Occasionally bays and harbors.
Japan, North Korea (B), Russia (Asian), South Korea.
Coasts and islands of north-western Pacific, from Kamchatka and Sea of Okhotsk south to north-eastern Korea, Kuril Is, and northern Japan (Hokkaido, northern Honshu). In winter, pelagic and coastal, usually near breeding locations and somewhat farther south.

Food
