Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru.
Andean lakes, from northern Ecuador to northern Chile, western Bolivia and northern Argentina (Tucumán). In winter extends to Pacific coast, south to south-central Chile (Aisén).
