Subspecies
Subspecies emini may be better merged with nominate cinctus.
The following 5 subspecies are recognised:
cinctus (Heuglin, 1863) - South-eastern Sudan, eastern Ethiopia, Somalia and northern Kenya.
emini Zedlitz, 1914 - Southern Kenya, Tanzania and northern Zambia.
seebohmi Sharpe, 1893 - Extreme southern Angola and northern Namibia to southern Zambia, Zimbabwe and extreme northern South Africa; possibly also northern Malawi.
