Habitat
Temporary and tidal marshes, swamps, wet marshy meadows, and wet to dry grassland.
Argentina (B), Brazil (B), Uruguay (B).
Southern Uruguay and northern Argentina.

Similar Species
Ash-throated Crake (Porzana albicollis) which is considerably larger and without markings in the wing, Black Rail (Laterallus jamaicensis) which is smaller and darker, with rufous on nape and back.
