South-western Fiji, on Kadavu and Ono.

Estimated population is 10,000 (2010) and decreasing.

Status NT
Forest habitat loss and degradation, possibly hunting are the main threats.

Voice
A single mellow whistle which is immediately followed by a short trill, the latter only heard at close quarters.

Subspecies
Sometimes placed in genus or subgenus Chrysoena, which forms a distinctive Fijian superspecies also including Orange Dove (Chrysoena victor) and Golden Dove (Chrysoena luteovirens). All three are thought to represent an early colonization of Fiji by Ptilinopus stock.
