Mangrove and evergreen forests. From sea-level - 1,500 m.

Range (Guide)

Brunei Darussalam (B) (NB), Indonesia (B) (NB), Malaysia (B) (NB), Thailand (B) (NB).

Unknown to Singapore (B) (NB).

Peninsular Thailand and Malaysia through Sumatra (including Riau Archipelago, Nias, Bangka, Belitung) to Borneo and western Java.

Currently this species is not classified as a rarity in this country OR information has not been updated.

Population
Estimated population is unknown (2010) and decreasing.

Status NT
Habitat destruction through logging and land conversion, forest fires, and trapping are the main threats.

Singly or in pairs. Shy and inconspicuous. Often in flocks while feeding.

Voice
A soft, low 'coo'.
