Habitat
Lowland and hill dipterocarp forest and mid-montane forest. Occasionally stunted montane or mossy forest. From 450 - 1,500 m, but mainly above 1,000 m.

Philippines (B).

Luzon (northern Philippines).

Population
Estimated population is 2,500 - 9,999 (2010) and decreasing.

Status VU
Forest loss, degradation and fragmentation are the main threats. Also, hunting for food and probably sport, and collection for trade are further factors.

Subspecies
Formerly placed in genus Leucotreron but a later proposal returned all members of that group to Ptilinopus, but placed present species in subgenus Rhamphiculus along with other Philippine and Sulawesi forms Cream-bellied Fruit-dove (Ramphiculus merrilli), Yellow-breasted Fruit-dove (Ramphiculus occipitalis), Red-eared Fruit-dove (Ramphiculus fischeri), Maroon-chinned Fruit-dove (Ramphiculus epius) and Black-chinned Fruit-dove (Ramphiculus leclancheri). Present species is most closely allied with Cream-bellied Fruit-dove (Ramphiculus merrilli).
