Habitat
Dry rocky lowlands with scattered trees, bushes and Opuntia cacti.
Ecuador (B).
Rarity Status
Currently this species is not classified as a rarity in this country OR information has not been updated.
Population
Estimated population is unknown (2010).
Status LC
Predation of adults, eggs and young by feral cats and other introduced predators is probably the main threat.

Food
Mainly seeds, but during the wet season also caterpillars and cacti blossoms.
Subspecies
The following 2 subspecies are recognised:
- exsul (Rothschild & Hartert, 1899) - Culpepper (Darwin) and Wenman (Wolf) in northern Galapagos.
- galapagoensis Gould, 1841 - Major islands of Galapagos (except Culpepper and Wenman).
